Vinelea is one of Beechworth's smallest producers — a single vineyard nestled in a horseshoe bend of Graveyard Creek, 3 km north-west of Beechworth township at 400 metres elevation. Owners Stuart Smith and Rhonda Parish farm along organic principles, with composting and ploughing at the heart of their soil management, though no formal certification is held. Very small quantities of four wines are made in a French-influenced style: full-bodied Chardonnay, concentrated Shiraz, a Marsanne and Roussanne 'Petit Blanc', and Pinot Noir — all built to reward cellaring as much as early drinking.
Vinelea follows organic principles — composting, ploughing and minimal inputs — but does not hold formal organic certification.
Four wines in very small quantities: Shiraz, Chardonnay, a 'Petit Blanc' blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, and Pinot Noir. All are designed to be enjoyable young but built for long-term cellaring.
