White Feather Red is an organically farmed winery at 253 Binney Road, McLaren Vale, established in 1998 by the Saunders family. Winemaker John “Moondog” Saunders hand-built the winery and introduced inventive approaches to growing and making wine, producing award-winning Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon (including the acclaimed Creek Crossing label), Shiraz Cabernet blends and a Sauvignon Blanc alongside a sparkling wine. The property doubles as a working farm with geese, turkeys, alpacas and white doves — a truly rustic and hospitable cellar door open Saturday and Sunday, 11am–4:30pm, with private farm tours available by arrangement.
